Description:
Overlooking the San Francisco Bay – with a view of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island – San Francisco National Cemetery is located in the scenic Presidio area of San Francisco. Cemetery Director Kathleen McCall tells us about the history of the Cemetery, which dates back to the California gold rush era. Veterans interned at San Francisco National Cemetery range from the Indian Wars and Civil War to the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Veteran Documentary Corps filmed this profile in April 2019 as part of our partnership with the National Cemetery Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

TItle: Cemetery Profile: Miramar Nation Cemetery
In this series, through Field Notes, profiles and short films on veterans, we hope to tell the story of Miramar National Cemetery. Located near Scripps Ranch, a neighborhood in northern San Diego, Miramar National Cemetery had served as an Army training, mobilization, and air squadron groups in WWI, WWII, and Vietnam War before becoming a National Cemetery in 2008. Veteran Documentary Corps shot these films in late April 2019 as part of our partnership with the National Cemetery Administration.

Cemetery Profile: Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

Description:
Featuring Cemetery Director Graham Wright III (U.S. Navy, Ret.), this short film tells the story of Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Situated in San Diego County on the Fort Rosecrans Military reservation, many of the Cemetery’s burials date to the early years of the California Territory. Notable interred veterans include Native Sons and Daughters of the Golden West from the Battle of San Pasqual, 62 sailors in a boiler explosion aboard the USS Bennington, and Navy SEALs killed in the line of duty. Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery has 101,079 burials. Veteran Documentary Corps shot this short films in late April 2019 as part of our partnership with the National Cemetery Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Cemetery Profiles: Dozinghem Military Cemetery (Belgium)

Description:
"Westvleteren was outside the front held by Commonwealth forces in Belgium during the First World War, but in July 1917, in readiness for the forthcoming offensive, groups of casualty clearing stations were placed at three positions called by the troops Mendinghem, Dozinghem and Bandaghem. The 4th, 47th and 61st Casualty Clearing Stations were posted at Dozinghem and the military cemetery was used by them until early in 1918. There are now 3,174 Commonwealth burials of the First World War in the cemetery and 65 German war graves from this period. The cemetery also contains 73 Second World War burials dating from the Allied withdrawal to Dunkirk in May 1940. The cemetery was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield." - https://www.cwgc.org/

In this Field Note, Ernesto Jose Cantú, a gardener at San Antonio National Cemetery and veteran fire fighter, recalls his experience in the Flugtag '88 airshow.
